2011 World Football Challenge

The World Football Challenge is an exhibitional international club association football competition featuring football clubs from Europe and North America, which has been held since the summer of 2009. There was no WFC in 2010, due to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Real Madrid are the reigning champions.

2009

In 2009, each team played the other three teams in the tournament once in a round-robin tournament format, with each game played at a neutral venue in the United States. Chelsea F.C. emerged as the World Football Challenge champion for 2009.

2011

The 2011 World Football Challenge was held in July and August 2011. It featured thirteen different squads meeting up in fourteen matches across the United States. The tournament format was considerably different than the 2009 event, due to the increase in number of teams. This is the first WFC event that MLS teams participated in. Real Madrid emerged as the World Football Challenge champion for 2011.
